It utilized a new caliber of movement, the 748, and was on the first watches to utilized Hamilton's "CLD" design. The CLD stood for "sealed" against moisture damage by the use of a top-loading case and a series of gaskets. The watch was far from waterproof, but was an important step in the evolution of a water-resistant case.
